Entering the office of Terry Pallier, one is struck by the number of sports photos and memorabilia -including the Edmonton Oilers and Eskimos. But it's hardly surprising, as the Edmonton native pitched in nationals, had a tryout for the Eskimos and has four sons all involved in hockey and baseball.

Pallier is president and CEO of Calgary-based Jager Engineered Wood Products, who came to the construction industry from an educational company he ran in the field of enhancing brain development that he sold to a publicly traded Ontario firm.

Jager was founded by Bill Jager in 1962 as a pioneer in wood truss systems. In 1982, it expanded its product lines to include its patented I-joists, engineered for longer spanning, superior performance and quieter floors. But four years ago it went into receivership and was dormant for three.

Jager Engineered Wood Products is proud to announce the latest addition to our team: Marty Smith has joined our lineup as Vice President of Sales. With Marty, Jager continues to illustrate its dedication to superior Customer Service and the core values of fundamental principles that determine our commitment to our customers.

Marty’s valuable industry expertise began when he graduated from Niagara College in 1994 with a Construction Engineering Technology Architecture diploma. He started out as a truss designer at Fonthill Lumber in Ontario and in 1999 he joined MiTek Canada, in the Engineering and Software Technical Support department before moving into the role of Technical Software Support Representative where he began building customer relationships through software demos and training. This career move prepared Marty for his launch into the field of Technical Sales Rep in Calgary. He continued to develop and strengthen customer relations throughout Western Canada, helping clients to start and grow their businesses, earning confidence and trust with longstanding clients. Marty was key in selling automated machinery throughout Alberta, making it the most automated region than any other in North America. He was instrumental in seeing MiTek through the acquisition of Jager Metal Products and their distribution of Simpson products and maintained success even through the economic downturn.

We are proud to have Marty join our family at Jager and are confident that he will work as hard for you as he will for us. We feel both ourselves, our current customers and our future customers will benefit from his expertise, enthusiasm and customer commitmentment.
